Yasaka Made in Japan ATS-314 Cobalt Hair Thinning Shears

The Yasaka ATS-314 Cobalt Hair Thinning Shears are made in Japan by Yasaka Seiki for professional stylists who need precision in texturizing and thinning. The blades are ATS-314 cobalt stainless steel, giving exceptional sharpness, durability and resistance to wear.

Each model is built around a different cut rate, so you can match the shear to the result you want: seamless layers, softened edges, or added texture. Note that the model number does not indicate the cut rate: the YS-300 is the gentlest of the three, not the middle one.

Choosing between them

• YS-300 (20–35%): the lightest touch. Best for fine hair, blending and subtle softening.
• YS-200 (30–40%): a general-purpose thinner for everyday texturizing on most hair types.
• YS-400 (40–50%): the most aggressive. Best for removing bulk from thick or coarse hair.
