Straight Razor Ebony Wood

This shavette looks nice and the weight gives it a solid feel without being heavy. The head appears to be quality steel, is nicely-machined, and puts a solid hold on the blade. The handle is solid wood and the shank pivots smoothly without being loose. It functions perfectly and has a nice balance and feel in the hand. It comes with 20 blades and one already inserted.This particular shavette had a thumbprint on the head and the steel looks to have some kind of staining or oxidation. The wood handle isn’t sanded perfectly smooth and there are some burrs along the edge. The grind of the tang is a little rough and is not polished. I expected this to look as nice as it feels, so I was a little disappointed in the overall finish. I’m not sure what was up with the thumbprint or steel oxidation on the head, but it was surprising.This is a shavette that feels and works great from a functional standpoint, but falls a little short from a fit and finish perspective.

This is a great holder that is essentially a collaboration between Saki and Feather Artist Club. Saki is a fantastic company and their products are top notch at very reasonable prices. As a Barber, I have used many shavettes and this is by far my favorite. It’s beautiful, comfortable and perfectly balanced. I have both the ebony and natural versions, both are equally excellent!Feather artist makes the best blades in the game and are of a professional level. As a Barber, I use these regularly for full face and head shaves.I do not however use Feather blades for every neck clean up as they are very expensive. While worth the cost, they are about .75 cents each, compared to the .10 cents in any other brand.Yes, you will need to buy Feather Artist Club blades to use this holder (Shavette) properly. While it can hold other blades, I really would not recommend it, doesn’t work well,With Feather Artist Blades in a Saki holder, you are getting the very best, professional grade shave experience!I highly recommend trying Saki’s shears as well, they are fantastic!!

So, I just received this shavette in the mail literally 5 minutes ago. I was so impressed with the packaging, it felt like I was getting an optimal product...until I opened it. I have submitted a photo of how the product arrived to me. Dissapointed in that aspect, yes. Btw, is a blade installed in the razor prior to receiving it regular protocol or did I receive someone else's disapproval?? Of course, my curiosity got the best of me and I cleaned off the razor blade itself and ran it against my arm. Pleasantly surprised on how easily it cut the hairs on my arm, just dissapointed in the condition the razor came in. It seems to be stained or cruddy kind of, not sure. The only thing that stopped me from giving 5 stars was the condition. Something should be done for quality control for this product. If there was no issue with condition, I would be content with the product.
